School-based Curriculum

Our school has been implementing the RWI Programme since 2007. Based on the synthetic phonics, the Programme integrates the four skills for students to learn English.

To further enhance the learning of English, our school has joined the PLPR/W Programme which is organized by the NET Section of the Education Bureau. All Primary One students go to the newly refurbished English room to take part in the Programme twice a week. The English Room provides an attractive print rich environment that is conducive to learning English. Students participate in child-centred activities that allow them to further develop reading and writing skills taught in the General English lessons.

Activities Held

  • Hong Kong School Drama Festival
English drama can help foster English learning and enhance students’ English usage and confidence. Students can learn English in such a relaxing and stress-free atmosphere. We joined the School Drama Festival last year and our effort was repaid with Award for Outstanding Performer, Award for Outstanding Stage Effect and Award for Outstanding Cooperation.

  • English Fun Day
Due to COVID-19, many people in Hong Kong cannot go travelling in their spare time. The theme of our English Fun Day this year is “Travel in Our Eyes”. The English teachers decorated each classroom, in the style of different countries and continents including Antartica, Australia, Canada, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, the United States and United Kingdom. By visiting different classrooms, the students learnt about the cultures and customs of many countries.

  • English Room Activity

  • English Speaking Day

Students enjoyed speaking English with our English Ambassadors and teachers during recess!

  • “Story to Stage” Puppetry Competition

Puppetry is an effective and versatile learning tool to the development of literacy skills in a fun and engaging manner. We chose students to select a story, devise a script, design puppets and props, and apply puppetry skills in their performance.

  • RWI Bridging Courses (K3)

Based on synthetic phonics, the RWI program seamlessly integrates the teaching of listening, speaking, reading and writing. It can help children sound out unfamiliar words and learn English effectively.
